When you accepted Christ as your personal savior, you said that you believed that He was born of a virgin, died on the cross and rose from the grave. You said that you realized that He did all of this for you. And now you celebrate your salvation! No matter what comes your way or what you do, you hold on to your belief. You are saved. Praise the Lord! Jesus Christ is your Savior!
But now, I have another question - is He your Lord? Wait before you answer!
The definition of "lord" is one who rules and reigns over something and/or someone. If you're saved, then you know that Christ rules and reigns over all because He owns and created all. So your answer is "yes, He's Lord!"
But that's not the question. The question asks "Is He your Lord?" What's the difference? I'm glad you asked.
When Christ is Lord of your life, it means He rules and reigns you. It means you acknowledge Him first in everything you do. You then let Him lead and guide you in the way He would have you go. You are submissive to his perfect will for your life. You dare not make a single move without consulting Him first. He guides your thoughts, your tongue and your walk. Simply put, you daily strive to walk in the image and likeness of Christ.
It's a sad thing to report, but often times Christians live as if Christ is just their savior. The excuse we offer is that God knows my heart. Or that God knows how I am. I'm human.
I write today to say that we can no longer walk that way if we expect to go higher in Him. He requires that we live holy. A hard task you say. I agree. We struggle with the flesh daily in some form or another. However, I can say from a personal standpoint that if you allow Him to be Lord, it's not as hard as you think. Once you began consulting Him first and following what He already has laid out for us, the decisions you once were making won't come so naturally because it's contrary to the One who now has complete control of your life.
Just a thought! - Is He Your Lord?
